The process of Yoga Nidra is truly accessible for anyone who can comfortably lay on the ground, a bed, or couch.


HOW TO DO YOUR YOGA NIDRA PRACTICE

1. Find a quiet, dark, calm space.

2. Lay on your back with support under your knees and head. Possibly cover your body with a blanket and your eyes with a mask or cloth. Make yourself as comfy as possible.

3. Press play once you have yourself situated and simply listen and relax in the experience.  


WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA? 

Yoga Nidra is a Yogic practice done while laying down. Simply create a safe comfortable space for yourself to relax and allow this audio to guide you through the practice. 

Yoga Nidra is both a state of being and a sequence of tools utilized to attain this state. Yoga Nidra is deep sleep with a trace of awareness. In the practice of Yoga Nidra the body sleeps but the mind remains awake listening to the instructions.

The tools of Yoga Nidra, will systematically move awareness from our waking state (beta brain waves), to our relaxed mind (alpha brain waves), to our unconscious and subconscious brain waves (theta and then delta). You will spend most of the practice in theta brain waves. The theta state is where most of our physical, mental, and emotional stress is digested, assimilated, and healed.

In Yoga Nidra, practitioners are guided through a systematic progressive relaxation practice that includes breath work, bringing awareness to  your physical body,  and visualization/ imagery by spoken word.

To practice Yoga Nidra, you will lay face up with supportive props under your head and knees, to make the body as relaxed and at ease as possible. The practice of Yoga Nidra is appropriate for any level of practitioner. Don't stress if you fall asleep! Trust that the deepest part is always listening and you are receiving the healing you most need!
